Project titleComparison of two physiotherapy interventions.
Lay summaryThis project will investigate the effects of community Physiotherapy on patients who are taking part in a Physiotherapy service within University Hospitals Birmingham. Currently, data collected includes fear of falling and Tinetti scores which will be used to make comparisons. Tinetti scores measure a person’s balance and stability by completing an assessment consisting of various sitting, standing, and walking gait exercises. The current research also suggests fear of falling influences activity participation and patient condition. The overall duration of the project will be 9 Months. Data collection and analysis of data to be completed by June 2023, and write up and submission to be completed by December 2023. The outcome of the project is to gain a better understanding of the Psychological and Physical benefits of a Physiotherapy based programme depending on the environment it is being carried out.
Public benefit statementThe results of this project will provide a better understanding of the service being provided, and how home-based rehabilitation compares to hospital-based. This will help the researchers get a better understanding of the psychosocial aspects as well as physical aspects of patients at risk of falls.
