PIONEER: The Health Data Research Hub for Acute Care

PIONEER is improving patient care by making routinely collected health data available to doctors, researchers and academics, under licence, so that the data can be used ethically and with robust governance to improve treatment choices as well as identifying new ways to deliver clinical care.

PIONEER is disease-inclusive, focusing on the patient in their entirety without a disease or organ-based approach, and is ageless, including data from both children and adults. Our data is routinely collected from the electronic health record systems of participating healthcare providers and is updated at least weekly. It includes both presenting symptoms and patient demographics including (but not limited to) age, ethnicity and multimorbidity.

Find out about the latest developments as part of the PIONEER programme. Learn more about the research projects granted access to the PIONEER dataset and keep up to date on the findings from this research.
